What to Expect Before and After Laser Spine Surgery
If you have weighed all of the pros and cons of Endoscopic laser spine surgery and have discussed all of the options with your orthopedic surgeon to decide whether or not to go ahead with the surgery, here are some things that you can expect before and after your operation. First, you will not be placed under general anesthetic, which will allow for a quicker recovery time immediately after the surgery. You will be under a local anesthetic, meaning that you will be in a “half-sleep”, aware of your surroundings and what is going on, but not alert enough to feel any pain. Your mind will be in a “haze” during your operation. Once the endoscopic laser spine surgery is completed, you should feel immediate relief in the pain site. The incision site will be a bit sore, but your pain-free back should be immediately noticeable. You will be up and walking soon after the surgery and are allowed to go home that same day. There is no hospital stay required and you will be feeling new and improved in no time at all!
