Discussing Divorce With Children
You and your spouse have to talk to your children as a unified front when discussing the divorce. Even though you are no longer married, you are still both parents to these children. They need to know that you are both there for them, and that things have not changed. You may not be all living together in the same house any longer, but you are still a family. They also need to know that they can feel secure in knowing that both parents will always be there for them no matter what happens in the future. There will always be effects from divorce that will change your children’s lives, but how you handle it will go a long way towards making it easier for them to handle. They have relied on you their entire lives to take care of them, and now that things are changing, they need you even more.
